At a time like this...

So, I know my blog posting has been slower than usual this week. There was a tragic loss in my best friend's family. He was a young father, a husband, a son, a friend, an uncle, a brother... And he is now gone.

Pack it up, Pack it in... Stockpiling

We have already talked about how eating at home and meal planning can save you time and money! Now we're going to build on that by stockpiling

What is stockpiling? Stockpiling is when you buy things you use on a regular basis when it goes on sale, whether you need it right then or not. I'm not talking about clearing the shelf and having a lifetime supply of mustard... I'm talking about buying just a few extra.

Stockpiling will not only save you money, but also your time by helping to simplify your life. How many times have you sat down to eat dinner, only to realize that you're out of butter or in the morning you are desperately trying to squeeze the last bit of toothpaste out of the bottle??? We have ALL been there one way or the other.

If you stockpile, you can go right into your cabinet & grab the item you need. It is so convenient. Think of it as shopping in your own home!

The other great thing about stockpiling is, it offers more flexibility with shopping. If my schedule does not permit time to shop, I can actually skip a week. I may run in to buy some bread, milk, or fresh produce. But I have enough of the basics so as for a real shopping trip, it is unnecessary.
Let's put this into perspective money-wise...

    A Few Things

All the deals of the week are officially up! *sigh of relief* There are a lot of deals out there this week. I don't think you can go wrong this week, no matter where you shop! Remember, if you can't find time to clip coupons, just shop the sales! Make sure you plan your meals 1st, so you know what you need for the week!

My 1st Trip of the week to Harris Teeter 5/17

    Total Value = $69.66
    Total Paid = $25.49
*This includes 8lb. of 80/20 ground beef*
I had a great shopping trip! It was a little more crowded than usual, but not too bad. Almost everything on my list was there. I always take extra coupons, in case some things are out, I can grab other items. The sales aren't too impressive, but with triple coupons even most regular priced items are super cheap! I will definitely be going back tomorrow! :)

How did you do this week? Where did you shop?

      Friday, May 13, 2011

So the weekend is finally here! Seems like all week long we count down to Friday! But why??? I get that it is a break from the norm of life. We have a little more freedom & maybe some fun things planned! But why do we "live" for the weekends? Seems so wasteful for us to live life to the fullest only 2 1/2 days of the week. Sometimes we even live it up so much that we're exhausted starting the week on Monday.

We spend so much time waiting & anticipating things that we miss out on the present moment!
