Meal Plan 03/26 - 04/01

Another busy week and successful meal planning. Without this weeks plan I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have eaten! We were constantly on the go!

Our new meal Enchilada Rice that we tried last week was a HUGE hit! We didn't even have any leftovers. And it was sooo quick and easy! My only change would be to double the rice. My phone is acting up right now, so I can't take pictures. Hopefully I'll be back to posting recipes soon.

Baseball is in full swing... 4 days a week! Thankfully I love being out at the ball field. Our field is out in the middle of no where, surrounded by trees. It makes you feel very relaxed and a bit disconnected. It forces you to slow down. And luckily the weather has been great for sitting outside.

This week our meal plan will be just as important!

Harris Teeter Triples PREP

As I'm sure many of you know, tomorrow starts Triple Coupons at Harris Teeter! Here are a few things for you to keep in mind!

  • Coupons triple up to $0.99  - Ex: $0.50 coupon = $1.50
  • Only 20 coupons will triple per person, per day
  • You should take more than 20 coupons, because chances are something you want will be gone. This way you can have some "back ups" to use.
  • Just because something's not on sale does not mean it can't be a good price. Many times regularly priced items combined with a triple coupon can end up being a low cost!
  • On the other hand, do NOT buy something just because you have a coupon that will triple! There are a lot of things that you can find cheaper when it's on sale, with or without a coupon.
  • I personally like to make sure I pull out all my random coupons that I have, that maybe no one else has. The ones I've printed, the ones in the mail or from products I've bought.

Here are a few sites that you can get lists of what coupons will make CHEAP and FREE buys!

I may venture out. But as you can see from my monthly shopping trip last week, I don't really need to go. If I muster up the energy and find some extra time, then I may go! Let me know how you do!

Meal Plan 03/19 - 03/25

This week's meal planning was simple. I have planned a month of meals. While it did take a little bit longer to compile at one time, it has saved me a lot of time since. It is also saving me money! I'll be talking in more detail on Wednesday! Also, check out my monthly shopping trip last week. This is going to help save so much time with not having to shop more, except for to buy produce and maybe some rock bottom sale items.

Last weeks meal plan was finally a success! Although we didn't have 2 of the meals, we still ate at home every night! Even despite our crazy busy schedules and sickness.
Our entire family went through a stomach bug within about 36 hours. It started Saturday evening with our daughter Hannah and quickly spread to the 2 oldest within a few hours. It was a long night of washing sheets, rubbing backs, cleaning up throw up buckets and pouring gatorade. By the morning my husband and I were feeling sick, too. Taking care of your kids, while being sick yourself is very difficult! By yesterday evening we all seemed to be on the mend. And then my husband and youngest started AND the girls got sick again. It was another long night. My husband and I slept on the couch with our youngest, Isaac. It made him feel a little better having a "sleepover" with Mommy and Daddy!

Waking up this morning we all mostly seem to feel back to normal. Except for my husband and I feel like were 90 years old from sleeping on the couch! :) Thankfully, this was a very quick sickness! Kinda glad that we all went through it at the same time, so we could get it done and over with. Also, this is the first we've been sick this whole winter, despite a few head colds.

Today the kids are staying home just to be sure they are completely well. Kinda stinks, because they have their testing this week. But what can ya do? The plan for today is to clean up our disaster of a house!

Any tips for quick clean up???

My Harris Teeter Trip 03/16

Total Paid = $128.88
TOTAL Saved = $101.43
SAVED w/ Coupons = $22.33

You may be shocked by the amount I paid... It doesn't really look like savings, right??? Well this should last me the rest of the month and more, except for maybe some produce. I planned the entire month of meals and so I bought everything I need this week. I am also stocked up on meat.

I will post on Wednesday the details of monthly meal planning... It's not for everyone. I'll list the pros and cons.

I have been avoiding using coupons lately. Sometimes this happens to me. I go through spurts of dreading cutting coupons and matching sales. But then when I go, I don't want to buy anything, because I know how much I could be saving if I had brought my coupons. It's a love/hate relationship.

So I decided I needed to bite the bullet and cut coupons, match sales and fill my house with food. When your cabinets are empty it's easier to be tempted to eat out, because you don't have anything that is appealing to your taste buds. For some reason I love the feeling of having a full cabinet with foods I bought for cheap! :)

This is a long list, but definitely worth the look. Especially if you plan on shopping at Harris Teeter OR if you want to get an idea of a good "buy price" for these items. I did make a few mistakes, which cost me $5.00. I'm blaming shopping with my 2 girls for being distracted! Lol I'll probably go back and try to make it right. Also, we ran out of toilet paper and dish soap, so I had to buy those for a higher than regular price.

My Meal Plan 03/12 - 03/18

This past week has been crazzzy! We now officially have 3 kids in baseball. Three kids on 3 different teams and schedules is definitely going to produce some scheduling conflicts, but we're going to try to figure it out. So far, so good.

We also opened our church's 2nd campus this Sunday, where my husband is the Campus Minister! It was so exciting to be apart of and meet new faces! We had about 140 people. The building itself can only hold about 185, so we'll probably be going to multiple services quite soon. We're excited about this new chapter in our life and look forward to seeing what happens next!

Last week the meal plan didn't go quite as planned. We did eat at home, just not always what was planned. I'm still going to call it a success! This week should be a little easier, because now that the church is opened my husband will be home more (and not finishing construction).

My Farm Fresh Trip 03/08

Total Sale Amount = $35.22
Total Amount Paid = $27.22
Gas Rewards $0.03/gal.

**Don't mind the pic... Technical difficulties.

Another day of great weather and great shopping! I went to my Moms playgroup again this morning and decided to run by the store on my way home. (Just like last week.) I wanted to go yesterday, but it was just "one of those days" and me going to the store would have turned into a meltdown for everyone involved. So, I did miss out on some of the items that were made cheap with double $1.00 coupons, but let's face it... I'll over pay a few dollars in order to keep my sanity!

I had a few great finds on meat again! I know that some stores have a specific day of the week that they mark down the majority of their meats and I'm thinkin it may be Thursday for them. I found a pork butt and 93% ground beef! Even though I don't "need" this meat, I want to make sure I'm stocked up at a low price so that I won't be forced to buy it at full price. I also bought lots of cheap apples. These are great for snacks and homemade crock pot applesauce.

My Meal Plan 03/05 - 03/11

Here is my first meal plan for the month! I've already mapped everything out and I'm hoping this will be a successful meal planning month! We have a lot going on and the last thing I want to worry about it "What's for dinner?" When I don't have a plan, that simple stupid question can make me sooo upset! Well not this month!

We now have 3 children playing sports... This should be fun! Our youngest is playing t-ball, our youngest daughter is playing softball for the 1st time and our oldest son is still playing baseball (his is a year round travel team). This should be interesting to see how they can all be juggled!

I'm utilizing a lot of crock-pot and freezer recipes. I'm also going to try to make a few things to have as just in case meals. I'll share those when I make them. I stocked up on meat last week. You can see that trip HERE. So I have enough for the entire month! This way I can wait to buy meat ONLY when it is rock bottom prices again! This is one of the many joys of stockpiling!

My Farm Fresh Trip 03/01

Total Sale Amount = $91.00
Total Price Paid = $70.00

I hit the jackpot this morning! I had looked over the Farm Fresh ad yesterday and wasn't too impressed with any of the sales. I did want to run in for the $1.99/lb. chicken breasts, since that is my "buy price". And pick up a few other staple items that were also at my "buy price"! I had a Mom's group this morning and decided to just run in on my way home. Boy am I glad I did!

I found a TON of cheap meat! It was all marked down for quick selling! And I'm talking the good stuff too, like sirloin and 93% ground beef! I saved $21 WITHOUT CUTTING A SINGLE COUPON!
I even took close up pictures to prove to you the freshness! ;)
